How we view God, the Bible & Humanity matters

Image
The fight is real. I am watching it in real-time. I am seeing the warning signs that are telling us we are almost at the point of no return. What is it that I’m referring to? Our view of God, the Bible, and humanity. Let me explain. Theological liberalism has crept into the church, and it’s destroying us. I’m not talking about a political party. Although that is problematic, it's not the main issue.  I’m talking about our worldviews. How we view God, the Bible, and humanity actually matters.  We have seen in just a couple of weeks Christian “leaders” step out and denounce their Christian faith and say they are no longer Christians. This entire thought process is foreign to me and the people in the Bible. Men and women who truly encounter the God of the universe were transformed. Let me be incredibly clear.  These “Christian leaders” were NOT Christians. God’s Word proves this.   “Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists

Time To Be Thankful

The air is crisp.  The leaves are such a beautiful and warm color right now. The mood of our family is full-on holiday mode. It’s an amazing time of year, and I truly do love this time of year for so many reasons. God has truly blessed us as a family. We’ve seen some amazing miracles in 2020. We’ve walked through some dark valleys, but God’s Word has been such a sweet rock for us to fall on.  So when I read 1 Thess. 5:18, “ Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus ,”   it really has comforted my heart.  Honestly, some of the circumstances have been painful, but knowing that Jesus holds this entire thing has been so comforting, it has been a solid rock to stand on.  This year more than usual I’m really thankful for where I am at.  I’m thankful for the people who are in my life.  I’m thankful that God is molding and shaping me to look more like Him. God tells us over and over again in the Scriptures to be thankful. You and I have every reason in

No One Dies Early. Thoughts on Virus', Lockdowns, and Spiritual Health From A Pastor

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, Hebrews 9:27 So in the last couple of days, it seems that everyone is once again blowing the alarm of 'we all might get COVID and die.'   So we have 'leadership' that is shutting everything down from schools, and businesses, to in-person worship.    Do we have a legitimate right to be afraid of what might happen?  I guess, but last year at this point when the cold and flu season was at its peak no one was demanding we lock the world down.  We took common-sense approaches to our health and if we were sick we stay home and everyone else lived their life.  Let's look at the data.   CDC estimates* that, from  October 1, 2019 , through  April 4, 2020 , there have been: 39,000,000 – 56,000,000 flu  illnesses 18,000,000 – 26,000,000 flu  medical visits 410,000 – 740,000 flu  hospitalizations 24,000 – 62,000 flu  deaths Now those are some seriously sobering numbers, right?    But here is the th

Suffering Is A Blessing

The Book of James tells us that we should rejoice in suffering. I’m going to be honest. That’s not my knee-jerk reaction. But I will also tell you that this is why I think it is so important that Christians immerse themselves in God’s Word, because if we are not careful, we tend to get our sights set on this life and this life alone.  Scripture constantly reminds us that this is not our permanent home, and that we are just here for a few moments. “For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come”  (Heb. 13:14).  “How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog–it’s here a little while, then it’s gone”  (James 4:14). There are several promises in God’s Word about suffering. “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory”  (

Some Honest Questions To The Church

Image
What would it look like if we really started being a community to each other? If we started loving one another like Col.  3:12-14 says to love each other: “ Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony ” (Col. 3:12-14). What if we were intentional with our time and made time for one another? Like we actually gathered together and did not care if everything was perfect. What if we actually wanted to sit together and fellowship together and talk about the things of God together.  I know many of us have good intentions, but the world and appearances get in the way.  I want us to think about this for just a second. One day, this is all will be over, and we will stand before THE HOLY God
